A New Record!

I wanted to post this on Saturday, but I wanted even more to wait until I had the photo from Melody to post along with it, and thanks to this post, I now have said photo (seen below).

On Saturday, against the will of my desire to sleep, I decided to join Mom, Amber, Cortnie, Melody, Jonny and Julia for the Alpine Days 5K. It was hard work, but I had a good time, and I really tried to push myself a little harder this time. I still don't know why they decided to have the race at such an obscene hour, but the good thing about it was that it was only five dollars! That's what I'm talkin' about. So, my new personal record: 27:27 (just under 9 minute mile, if my calculations are correct), and I was 10th place in my age group (which, I guess, is a pretty big-sized group perhaps?). Sometimes I think running is a form of prolonged suicide. But I still love it. Does that make me a masochist?...

P.S. Try to ignore that I look kind of creepy in this photo. I promise I don't have a mullet. And how about that farmer's tan??

  1. Way to go!! I always think I could up and do a race right now, but then I remember that I have to get back into running post-baby. My body doesn't quite work that way right now . . .

  2. Ha ha, nice tan. I am sad that you were the one to point it out, and not me. Good job on your new record!

  3. Didn't notice the tan etc until you mentioned it. :)

I still think that running is for emergencies only. But I admire those of you who can pull it off and somehow "enjoy it." I ran a 5k once, and I nearly died.

  5. Nice job! Although I agree with mattieg - running for emergencies only. Who has time to run when there's blogging and Photoshopping and Illustratoring - my 3 addictions.

Love the blog, I'll be back :)

And congrats on your art jobs! I've always been a fan of your work. Now that you're home and on the market, I'll put you on my list of artists I can call when I need illustration work (my company needs it every now and again)

  6. And we are SO glad you did come. I am with you on the prolonged suicide. Nealy every race I run there is a moment (or two) when I think, "WHY am I doing this!?" And then I remember that I love it? Strange, but true.
